Electrical & Controls Engineer

Vericor Power Systems’ mission is to deliver aero-derivative, gas turbine-based power solutions and related services for marine propulsion, mechanical drive and electrical power generation applications. Vericor is dedicated to providing quality, cost-effective solutions and services for all of our customers – ranging from the US and foreign Naval forces to power generation and oil & gas providers. As the Electrical and Controls Engineer you will be an instrumental part of the Engineering organization, reporting to the Engineering Manager of the Performance, Controls and Accessories Group.

    This role will work in close cooperation with the Controls and Accessories Manager to:

    • Development new control schemes or improve existing controls, both hardware and software
    • Provide support for in house testing of new electrical and control system designs both in a lab bench test environment and in a factory engine test cell
    • Support start-up and commissioning of new gas turbine installations
    • Troubleshoot electrical and control systems in the factory, test cells, and at field installations
    • Develop Vericor’s remote monitoring system including improved data analytics

    • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering
    • Up to 5 years of experience with controls and electrical systems in a design or field support function
    • Experience with commercially available systems (PLCs) for closed loop control is desired
    • Experience with the use of Matlab and Simulink is desired
    • Familiarity with generator electrical systems including motor control centers, circuit breakers, power conductors, instrumentation, etc.
    • Familiarity with cloud computing concepts, specifically Microsoft Azure platorm, and the ability to visualize and process data from remote monitoring of gas turbine engines
    • Interest or experience in aero-derivative gas turbine engine technology
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as multi-tasking abilities, strong analytical skills, strong interpersonal skills, organization skills, and time-management skills.

    • In accordance with US Export Control requirements, US Citizenship or permanent resident status is required
    • <25% Travel focused on field support and travel between the office in Alpharetta Georgia or the manufacturing and test facility in Greer, South Carolina
