Marine Sales Manager

This position is responsible for sales and marketing of Vericor gas turbine products to commercial and military marine propulsion markets worldwide. The position is responsible for identifying potential customers, managing customer relationships, preparing technical and commercial proposals and order intake in the marine market segment.

Scope Of Position

The Marine Sales Manager works to win projects and achieve growth in the marine market. The position is responsible for marine related marketing activity, proposal management and securing contracts with customers. This key individual understands and supports long-term organizational strategic goals and maintains extensive knowledge of current market conditions including, and not limited to, technology, competitors, existing customers and regulations in industry and government.

This person has a thorough knowledge of gas turbines or reciprocating engines and equipment for naval and commercial marine markets. This person has the ability to communicate key technical, commercial and contractual issues both internal and with the customer to enable quick resolution of issues which arise during project screenings, proposals, negotiations and transfer to the execution team.

Success at this position requires strong technical skills with a deep understanding of customer values, technology and technology applications. This individual must also be a team player and matrix organizational leader to function effectively across all departments. This person is required to travel as needed for customer technical and/or commercial meetings, contract negotiations and trade shows. This individual is expected to continually update product knowledge and management skills to better ensure success of the customer and Vericor.


    • Maintain knowledge of the marine market and the potential market for Vericor products worldwide.
    • Maintain relationships with shipyards, naval architects and other industry professionals to ensure that Vericor  products are regularly considered for all potential applications. 
    • Conduct pro-active marketing campaigns to identify and target potential programs, customers and  applications in advance of requirements definition to allow influence of requirements. 
    • Screen inquiries from potential customers and prepare appropriate responses. 
    • Prepare for and conduct bid/no bid and proposal approval meetings with the management team.
    • Manage capture strategy. 
    • Manage communication with the customer during the sales phase and ensure the capture strategy remain valid  and make changes, as necessary. 
    • Generate technical and commercial proposals responsive to customer requirements.
    • Draft sales contracts, business agreements and manage contract negotiations. 
    • Regularly report status of sales campaigns. 
    • Provide sales forecasts for strategic planning.
    • Participate in strategic decision making on issues related to pricing, engineering, customer support and  company growth initiatives for the marine market. 
    • Participate in and conduct marketing and business development activities to enhance awareness of the product  in the market. 
    • Assist in identifying and developing qualified suppliers, partners, consultants and other industry experts to  assist in the development of Vericor marine packages/systems. 
    • Required travel domestic or international: 25%




    • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • 4 years’ experience in application engineering or sales of gas turbine or reciprocating engine marine  propulsion systems or other major marine systems. 
    • Technical understanding of marine propulsion and/or gas turbine engine applications in other capital  equipment applications. 
    • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.



    • 8 years combined experience in application engineering and sales of gas turbine or reciprocating engine marine propulsion systems. 
    • Knowledge and experience in consultative and/or strategic selling concepts.
